RE: Tamron 45mm f1.8 Di VC USD Lens Review
Interesting. I've never heard of a 45mm before. For portraits whilst sharpness is nice it isn't as important as speed for me. I've noticed that focus is always slower on 3rd party lenses although the Sigma ones are not too far behind. How much does this cost?
Yes definitely not a common focal length! It tends to go for around 500-600 bucks. When I shot Canon, I found most of their lenses focus extremely fast, but unfortunately many Nikon lenses are less than impressive with focus speed. The fastest AF lens I have is my Sigma 85mm 1.4. I was underwhelmed by the focus speed on the Nikon 85mm 1.8g.
Wow that is expensive. I think the cheaper Nikon lenses are slower - but it's the same for Canon when I used to use the cheaper primes they were slower. If you buy the expensive lenses (1000 dollars/pounds or more) or the L lenses (for Canon) they tend to be very fast by comparison.
