I love it when people share little adventures like this. I can imagine you walking from your house to a magical place. Looks a lot like Maine; makes me homesick.
I was lucky to catch the boats today. They appeared just as I reached the canal. Inverness is quite a bit further North than Maine. The Northern tip of Main is at a latitude of 47N. Inverness is 57N. In fact even the most Southerly point of Great Britain, Lizard Point, is 49N. And yet I hear Maine is pretty cold. Must be the gulf stream keeping Britain warm...
