Beautiful corals

I took these photos on my first dive trip to the Florida Keys in late June and early July, 1997. The photo above is of a coral head covered with colorful sponges.
This young hawkbill turtle was unperturbed by my following him to take this shot. He seemed completely unconcerned, and continued as if I wasn't there. For the record, some turtles are quite curious, and will check you out as if to see what in the heck you are.
These spotted eagle rays are harder to identify through the murk, but I remember the incident well, as it was the first time I had ever seen them in the open ocean. They did NOT like being followed, and quickly vacated the premises.
This is a small brain coral with a sergeant major (the yellow and black striped fish) standing guard.
For anyone with any interest in diving on a coral reef, go. Now. While you still can.
Our coral reefs are disappearing, and it is a real tragedy. Our natural world is what sustains us.
I like how you add something after the haiku. Very informative post! It's a sad fact indeed that our coral reefs are disappearing especially here in my country (Philippines). Some of the people are not aware that they are already destroying nature's beauty.

I like giving some context, and descriptive information where applicable, especially for those who aren't familiar with the subject matter at hand.
And, as a reader, I like it when other authors give additional information and context, as it gives a glimmer of insight into their process and the workings of their mind, and what the piece means to them personally. I find it adds to my enjoyment of the piece.
