Violent Ends
i tear my throat open
as a gazelle is torn
between
a lion’s maw,
and recline on my mother’s
rocking chair,
at the
edge of a Martian crag
and smoke a cigarette,
and
watch the smoke
billow
out from my throat
like smoke rising out of cracks
on a hot street
from an underground fire
