What money can't buy.
When we buy stuff, we say stuff by the fact that we buy it. When we put a price on stuff, we say stuff by the fact that we priced it.
What we say when we buy stuff or price stuff is not so nice. We say, "This thing is good the way gum or pop is good, but not good for its own sake." That is fine when we buy gum and pop. It is not good when we buy the chance to stand in line, or to skip a line, or to buy a part of your flesh to save a life. If we buy some flesh right off your own bones, we say, "Hey, your flesh is the same kind of thing that gum and pop are. What makes your flesh good is just what makes cash good. If I can buy your flesh for cash, then your flesh and the cash are good the same way." But your flesh is good for its own sake. The way it is good is not the way gum, pop, or cash are good.
We should not let folks buy stuff when that would mean we say such mean things. We should not say bad stuff, but when we buy some things, we say bad stuff! If that means that lots of sick kids have to die, oh well.
You know what? If we let folks buy some stuff that they should not buy, that might change them. When folks buy stuff, that can make them mean or make them care less. So we should not let folks buy some things lest folks turn bad!
