The 2020/2022 elections were so devastating to North Carolina's politics.
This is a purple state that thanks to gerrymandering and a sympathetic state supreme court will become a Republican stronghold at the local level. Much like Georgia, its suburbs have gotten bluer in recent years. I don't know if it would go for Biden just yet, but eventually it might go blue at the statewide level.
Thanks to Cotham's defection, now North Carolina abortion rights are in the crosshairs. However North Carolinians on balance are pro-choice.
It reminds me of how Republicans took over Wisconsin, a state that also is purple.
Wasserman's hypothetical map would essentially only leave eastern Charlotte and the Research Triangle blue and the rest of the state red.
