I think it was much more extreme in the past. There's a few extreme political parties and politicians doing better than they were a few years ago but it's not as bad as it has been. It probably goes in cycles, the moderates have messed up, the extremist have more power but there's signs that's changing already, with Macron defeating Le Pen and UKIP shrinking.
Thats one example but there isn't many plus UKIP is shrinking because there is no point in it anymore
