Gargantua is the most famous black hole in cinema and also the most realistic or in reality it is not; Gargantua, the colossal black hole that appears in Interstellar, was designed with the help of physicist Kip Thorne, its appearance, that curved ring of light as if floating above and below, is not a mistake.

This is how light would actually be deformed in the vicinity of a black hole; the simulation was so precise that it ended up published in a scientific article. and indeed time passes slower near a black hole, as it happens in the movie, although not as much, in the movie, one hour on the planet is equivalent to 7 years on Earth. For that to happen you would have to be almost touching the event horizon.
