Most powerful supercomputer used to test new atomic plants

Souce

Imagine a supercomputer so powerful that it can decipher the equivalent of 53 million pages of nuclear documents in minutes, now add an artificial intelligence trained with that volume of information and ask yourself, what happens when this duo goes into action to approve new atomic plants in the United States? The answer could be ushering in a new energy era, one where bureaucracy is no longer an obstacle and nuclear energy is reborn under the command of Excale computing.

The agreement was signed between the Oakreich national laboratory and the AI company Atomic Kenyan. Together they started a project that is using the Frontier supercomputer, the fastest on the planet, to train an artificial intelligence model specialized in the nuclear sector called Firming, which no longer operates plants. At least not yet, their role is more subtle, but absolutely crucial.

Precisely navigating millions of technical documents filed by the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the famous NRC, the model is capable of doing intelligent searches in seconds, locating clauses, technical requirements and regulatory standards that would previously take weeks or months of manual review.

All this with a level of reliability that guarantees compliance with the highest security standards in the industry, but it is important to say, for now the AI does not make decisions, it only organizes and processes information with superhuman speed, leaving the final judgment to human experts, according to its own creators, the objective is to make the data findable, accessible and understandable.

The brain is still human, but now it has a processor that works like 1000 brains at the same time, the immediate application is clear, accelerate the licensing process of new plants and fuel the growth of an electrified society, and the impact is not limited to the United States, if this model is effective, other nations will be able to adopt similar systems to unblock their own regulatory bottlenecks, not only in the nuclear sector, but also in health, infrastructure and security.
