The dark forest, the paradox of Enrico Fermi.

The dark forest is one of the hypotheses that would explain the Fermi paradox. Enrico Fermi, who was a physicist of the last century, as a joke, brought up the paradox by analyzing a little the circumstance of, "if even without taking into account the possibility of traveling faster than light, let us assume that you cannot travel faster than light", even so an intelligent species could go from one star system to another in a relatively acceptable range of years, for example, if its ship goes at half the speed of light or reaches a fraction of the speed of light, it could reach nearest star systems and colonize them, and after two, three or four million years it could statistically colonize all the planets in the galaxy.

Obviously the last ones to arrive at the last planet will be different from those who left the first or those who live on the first, they will be different species, but they will have colonized the entire galaxy, and Fermi said that, that is one of the impulses of all life, to expand, however, this would mean that we would have to be seeing aliens everywhere or at least their ruins and remains should be everywhere and we do not see them, so the question of Fermí's paradox is, where are they? all?.

There are several theories that claim that intelligent and technological life is a very rare thing, perhaps we are the only ones; because we are always looking for and we are referring to a very specific type of life, the normal, what we expect to find in the cosmos will be life such as bacteria, microorganisms and little else, evolved animal life, the superior beings that we call fish, trees, elephants, etc., are a rather rare thing in the evolution of the Earth, relatively recent.

So it is a strange thing that a technological civilization also occurs. We also do not know how rare it is, but it could be very rare and that on top of that this technological civilization wants to colonize and explore the cosmos, perhaps it is also very strange, the Egyptians were a civilization and they had no intention of traveling through the cosmos, nor could they, they wanted to travel to their world of the gods, perhaps what that evolved civilization does is create a world of gods, a virtual world where you can dive in and be able to live eternally in that virtual world, for example, would be an explanation of why we don't see other aliens everywhere, they have simply sunk into their virtual world and live there happily in that artificially created universe.

While that of the Dark Forest proposes the hypothesis that our cosmic neighborhood is dangerous, it would be full of intelligent civilizations that are hostile and silent to avoid arrest by possible predators. This didn't make much sense, first, because if there are predators, few would remain silent and hidden; second, because this raises the possibility that our radio signals are making known the existence of the Earth and of life on Earth and of human beings, but in reality the existence of life on Earth for a technological civilization a little more advanced than ours, only a little, I am not talking about civilizations that are advanced hundreds of thousands of years or millions of years, which would be logical, on a cosmic scale, but a couple of centuries more advanced than ours.

The existence of the Earth as a place with life would have been known for billions of years, because many of these parameters of both the dark forest and other parameters that raise the issue of radio waves have been forgotten about what is happening in recent years, because we are detecting, thanks to the new space observatories, planets that by analyzing their atmospheres we can reach an astonishing conclusion and that is that they can host life with an enormous degree of possibility, in fact, there is one that is in that.

If there is a debate about biological signatures, if those gases are the correct ones, if the combination, adjusting the issues a little more, analyzing this issue of gases, of atmospheric composition a little more and improving our technology a little, we can discover those worlds and we are talking about worlds that can be hundreds of light years away, even thousands of light years away, with improved technology, with gravitational lens technology to be able to see other planets, that could extend to tens of thousands of years and not I am talking about things that we cannot develop, we can develop them, they are within our possibilities, we cannot do it now, but in a few decades we could have it.

For a technological civilization a little more advanced than ours, the Earth could be detected, they could analyze the Earth's atmosphere and come to the conclusion that it is a planet with life. And not now, but about 3,000 million years ago, let's say 2,500 million years, which was when there was the revolution of atmospheric gases, the great oxidation, where the Earth's atmosphere changed from being rich in CO2 to being rich in oxygen.

For more than 2 billion years, the Earth can be detected in the universe, at least in our galaxy, as a place with life, so if there really was an intelligent civilization that said, "Hey, we can't travel faster than light, but we have detected that there is life here and since we are the predators of the dark forest, it would be better to send something and exterminate that life as soon as possible," well, they would have exterminated us a long time ago.

Obviously the possibility that they want to exterminate us, if they discover us and if they know that we exist, it is evident that it can exist. For what reason could they exterminate us? It is not going to be because of resources, because we are seeing that resources are abundant everywhere, it is not going to be due to population expansion, because we are seeing, like Fermi's theory, they should already be everywhere too, I believe that the only reason why they can exterminate us is because they consider that we are a potential threat, and well, humans are a potential threat, we should not be naive, we already see what some countries are doing against others.
