A time like this

Here's another radio style play with Holmes and Watson going at it again...

It’s almost time to wake up now Holmes.

What; where are we?

We are coming in to the port of Bangkok.

Bangkok you say?

Yes Holmes, in Thailand.

I know where Bangkok is. What are we doing here?

You wanted to go on holiday.

I did?

Yes you did.

I don’t remember wanting that.

That’s quite alright, I have the diary.

I’d like to take a look at that diary.

I’ll put it in the diary that you want to look at it later when we have time.

See that you do.

Yes Holmes, of course.

It’s hot in Thailand isn’t it?

Yes, but good for the bones.

This is all rather peculiar you know Watson.

Not so much Holmes; one thing leads to another and if you relax and let it happen, everything usually turns out alright in the end.

I’m really not sure we are on the same page.

Well Holmes, until the book is written you can never know for sure where you are in it, and that’s why it’s important to enjoy the journey, for when the end comes, that’s it, it’s all over.

But the war on peace is a tender regret that has left much death in its wake; and do we all wish for peace more now than ever to bring us closer to what we are urging to what caused us to urge...ah, who can say?

Your thinking on this is coming on good Holmes, and maybe you’ll be in the big leagues one day.

Do you see this Watson?

No, I surely do not.

Well it’s coming right at you so you’d better jump out of the way.

How many levels are you on Holmes?

Only this one, but I think I need another clue.

Why only one?

Did I say one, well hey, let’s go out on the town and paint the night red and green and yellow, hell, let’s go rainbow…

Calm down now Holmes.

How can I calm down?

Well my time piece makes it a quarter after eight and it’s time for bed.

How can you think of going to bed at a time like this?

Perhaps a few more minutes then.

Can I have a sandwich Watson?

What kind of sandwich Holmes?

The kind that doesn’t run away.

Let me see what I can do.

And so, Watson went off to look for a sandwich in Bangkok for all he was worth, and looking here and looking there he found a sandwich and carried it all the way back to the rented house where Mr Holmes was waiting, and listening to the infernal wireless:

+++This is the end of the play now, but do not be disappointed, there is more to come in the next instalment, out soon.

THE END

Oh, oh, that sounds too ominous.

Yes it does, but, well, as we clambered over the mountains of this, to avoid answering, there was heard to call: hoo-wee…

Would that be: hoo-wee, ho-wee hoo, or just hoo-wee?

Hmm, I think you’ve had enough.

But I want to know what happens next.

Moriarty, do you care for nothing?

No, not really.

I don’t know who you are any more.

You must rest assured that this is how it must come to be.

I’m not sure I can do that.

Then you are doomed to live a life where time goes too fast. And so it is.

Ohh, I think I am feeling all a woo-hoo.

For the love of god, hasn’t anyone got a bottle of wine?

I’ve got a bottle of beer.

Give it to me.

I will not.

Then you are a miser.

I am not.

Can you play that back to me; maybe a little slower with a touch of gin or anything else you’ve got to give.

Is this a stick-up?

Yes, I think it is.

Why aren’t you wearing the bank-robber’s hood then?

Because I’m not a bank-robber.

Then what are you?

I am in disguise as your butler sir.

No kidding.

Yeah.

So what’s all this about?

It’s not about anything.

You got that straight.

Didn’t we shoot past THE END a while back?

Would that be the end out back of beyond?

Shut up.

I have to say that this is the end of your fencing lesson.

When the end really gets here I wonder: how will it be?

It will be beyond all possibility, that’s why it is the end.

Is there not a little bit more?

NO, it is: THE END.

Oh, for God’s sake, how can it be THE END when there is so much more?

Sir, I think you must understand, we are not here for this.

Then what are we here for?

Are you implying something now, beyond the normal?

Who are you, and who do you work for?

I am only a minute past midnight and I cannot say any more than that.

Where did I go wrong?

You went wrong when you went into that side alley looking for gold.

But what else is there that is worth looking for?

Now you begin to see the dilemma.

It is I that should be asking the questions here.

Perhaps, but it is I that has all of the power.

That’s just an illusion in your mind+++

OMG, look at the time, and Watson’s not back yet; if I don’t go to sleep soon I won’t wake up tomorrow.

I love to read this type of writing, and you @wales, do it very well! Very creative and very humorous. I may try writing in this style some day, but for now I rather enjoy reading these gems written by other great writers, like you. :)

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it

Good one @wales. I like the back & forth banter.

Thanks; it was fun to write

Confusing banter indeed my friend, sways a person to and fro.
Well written of course as always!
Blessings!
