I have never heard about Niffler before I saw your post and I count myself as informed about crypto world... So, I suppose that "lack of awareness" was the main reason for taking that long... Also, I didn't know the procedure for voting (it was very unclear how it works at all), but it was automatic at the end..
If we count all that reasons, 1000 votes is a great result!

Yup, I agree, its highest drawback was the lack of awareness. That's why I believe a better coordination will be useful in the future.
