RE: What people do when they find something.
I'm with you and Melinda, if it's something valuable.
I had a call from the police today. Someone had handed in a lost bag. There was no wallet, but there was a prescription bottle and a notebook full of notes that had my name and phone number in it. From the clues in that I was able to identify the client (not the name on the bottle) and give the police their cell number. So that was a win for handing it in.
Another time, we saw a dog in our back yard. It disappeared, but then came back, and it was getting dark. So we brought it in and started checking all the lost and found pet websites. When that produced nothing, we did have to call the pound, but as it had a number on its tag, they were able to identify the owner. But they wouldn't tell us, and came to get it, then called the owner themselves.
Great examples and I agree with both of the ways you handled things.
Melinda agreed with what I wrote in the post so we are all in agreement.
I felt it best to used customer service and the pound.
