This morning the air was fresh, the sky was clear and cloudless, and the mood was vibrant. My wife and I were preparing to attend a party in a neighboring village. This event was quite special because one of our relatives there had invited us. From home, I had been envisioning the festive atmosphere, the cheerful laughter of the guests, and, of course, the warmly prepared food.

Upon arrival, a bustling atmosphere greeted me. Guests arrived, greeting and shaking hands, while the host busily ensured everyone was comfortable. After greeting and greeting several families, I headed straight to the dining table. The aroma of traditional village cuisine was enticing. With a full appetite, I savored the dishes, from white rice and various rendang side dishes to refreshing drinks.

After enjoying my meal, I returned to meet my host to say goodbye. As a sign of respect and in accordance with local customs, I presented him with a sticky note in the form of an envelope containing money, a tradition that symbolizes support and togetherness at every family event. The host accepted it with a smile and sincere thanks.

I couldn't linger for long as I remembered our little daughter, still asleep at home. The journey home was pleasant. Along the way in my hometown, my eyes were spoiled by the sight of the red and white flags fluttering on every street corner. These flags were neatly displayed by residents to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Indonesian Independence Day, which was just a few days away on August 17th. National spirit flowed in the air, warming my heart.

When I arrived home, I found our daughter still sleeping soundly. That afternoon, we decided to stay home. We had no special agenda, just enjoying some relaxing time with our little family. Sometimes, a simple day brings deep gratitude: a morning filled with family gatherings, a scenic drive home, and a peaceful afternoon at home.

Today was a reminder that happiness often comes from a balance between busy socializing and quiet time with my beloved little family.
