Hola AMIGOS

In the spirit of the INTERNATIONAL SELF-CARE DAY being the 24th of July, I’d love to join in promoting and sharing a few personal thoughts on self-care.

Self-care isn’t just about taking a bath or rubbing on some body lotion;though those do matter! It goes far beyond that. Self-care touches every corner of our lives, especially our mental well-being. It includes the relationships we hold close, the music and movies we consume, and the things we feed our body;food, drinks, even medications. What we wear also plays a role. After all, what’s the point of a good bath if we’re slipping into dirty underwear or work clothes?

Our environment matters too. A space that breeds rats or insects is a threat to both physical and mental health. So yes, self-care is broad, essential, and very personal. Here’s what it looks like for me:

~Do you practice any sport daily or physical activity daily?

No, I don’t play sports every day, but I make walking a routine. It helps me clear my mind, think deeply, and stretch my body a bit;an easy way to avoid stiffness and stay active.

~Do you see your doctor regularly? Only when you're really sick, or orals for routine checkups?

I make sure to visit the doctor regularly for checkups. Some illnesses remain hidden until they get serious, so I try not to wait till I feel sick before going.

~How many hours do you sleep each day?

To be honest, I sleep less than 8 hours a day. I know that’s not ideal..8 hours is best for a refreshed mind and a well-rested body. It’s an area I hope to improve.

~Do your harmful habits include smoking, drinking alcohol, or using drugs?

No. I’m proud to say I don’t smoke, drink, or use drugs.

~Do you want to maintain a balanced and healthy diet, consuming vegetables, greens and fruits?

I wouldn’t say I fully maintain a balanced diet. I do enjoy fruits of all kinds, but I’m quite picky with vegetables;especially tomatoes and onions. I’m working on that, though!

~How often a week do you eat junk food?

At most, twice a week.

~Do you maintain good personal hygiene habits?

Yes, I do. I brush my teeth daily, bathe regularly, trim my nails, and make sure my clothes are clean. I keep my skincare simple and natural...no fancy creams or products.

~Do you have a mentor who regularly advises you and monitors your personal hygiene?

No, I don’t have anyone who monitors my hygiene habits. I try to stay disciplined on my own.

~How often do you go out to share with friends?

I go out about twice a week to socialize. It helps me relax and reconnect.

~Are you reading any books at the moment??

Yes! I’m currently reading The Da Vinci Code. It’s thrilling, adventurous, and packed with interesting history. Definitely one I’d recommend.

~Do you define yourself as a person who practices self-care, or do you think you could improve a little more in some areas?

I'd say I do practice self-care, but there’s always room to grow...especially when it comes to sleep and eating habits.

This is such an enlightening and important topic. That’s why I’m inviting @davidmark george, @imohmitch, and @precious9 to also share their take on self-care!

Gracias Amigo
