The Diary Game || Rural Rugged || 02.08.2025
In my country Nigeria, we have a one year of service to the country. We call it NYSC (National Youth Service Corp); the main objective of this program is to foster unity and patriotism in the country. We also give service to the community.
I am a corp member presently and also a part of the NCCF (a fellowship for Christian corp members). We had a program which is tagged Rural Rugged; am event we preach about Jesus to the community and also provide services to improve the well-being of the community.
Let me take us into how the day went...
We woke up early in the morning to have prayers and we were also informed on what we are to do for the day.
After then we had morning exercise, some of the guys played football. Well I only watched because I was injured. While a huge part of other corp members prepared for the rally.
Now we are going to tour the community talking about Jesus and also inviting them to come to the camp for the different services we were going to provide that day.

Everyone kitted up, some of us wore costumes, others just wore the NYSC kit. We took some drums which we played and sang numerous songs while going from shops to shops, houses to houses to tell people about the gospel of Jesus.
We held placards with inscriptions. It was fun and full of excitement...the Chants of the song "if it is not rural, it is not rugged" was heard from far away. People came out in numbers to observe what was happening.

We went from street to street, everything was coordinated well by every single unit. We walked and sang until we got tired at a point. We were constantly telling the kids too to come that we have gifts for them. We told aged women and men to be around for the community service at our camp.

We walked back home singing and jubilating. By 10am, we were back home. We were so tired from walking such a long distance but we had to prepare for the community service by 12pm. We set everything in place, from medications to the hair barbing to the children unit. All hands were on deck. Food was being prepared too for us in the kitchen. By 12pm people were coming into the camp to enjoy the community service.

We ran a check-up on the elderly and gave haircuts to kids and adults alike. We gave the adult and kids medication. Also gave the children gift items. The females had their hair braided too. The children, the women and even the men were so happy with the gifts we gave them. They prayed for us too.
After the community service, we prayed and had lunch before having our nap. We were given enough time to rest and engage with others
I was happy that I could take part in being a blessing to people. I was happy that I could put a smile on someone's face.
Service made me so happy and joyous.
That is how my rural rugged went.
