Crocheted Plant Hanger

in RECREATIVE STEEM3 months ago

Today I will be sharing with you this easy crochet plant hanger that I made for my husband. Hubby was quite pleased about what I did, and I'm happy about it. Yes, my husband is more a fan of flowers than me.

Materials

The plant hanger was made with polyester yarn 8 ply and has glitters on it. I didn't buy the yarn, I got it from an old knitted shirt that bought in a thrift store for a very cheap price and frogged it al out to make a yarn ball.

Looking Waaaaaay back

I asked my husband, "why don't you give me flowers like others did to their wives?

It was valentine's season when I asked him the question. He didn't say anything to me but he smiled. I remembered him going me flower only once since we got together. I'm not really serious when I asked him it, it's just that I'm curious about how that would feel because the flower he gave to me once was picked beside the road where we went. (But later I realized that it was only additional expenses and the flowers will only wilt and cannot be very beneficial to the living.

Few months later, the husband
planted rose in front of our house, then he added some more and more flowers. Then I said to myself, that the flowers he planted were better than what I asked him about the giving of flowers.

During the beginning of the lock down during the rising of the pandemic, my locality was very enthusiastic about planting flowers. Some even bartered a plant they have with others when they don't have the kind of plant that they like and my husband was one of them.

He saw an old friend posting on Facebook wanting to sell her Zebra plant, my husband liked the planet very much (he didn't buy it, he just bartered it with what he had in his garden so he will not be spending any cents in his plant collection).

The zebra plant is indeed amazing! He wanted to hang it and he told me about his plan on buying a hanging plant pot, but I had a better idea. I tried making the crochet plant hanger I saw on Pinterest and in a few minutes, it is done.

The Making

The project is very simple, it started just on a granny square, and a chevron stitch in between the corners to form the cup shape. There are plenty of bags that are made the same way but this is just so little. At first, I was hesitant to make the chevron stitches already because I'm worried it might not fit. Good thing I crocheted loosely that made the project so stretchable.

I was quite impressed with the result and I was proud of what I made.

This will be all for now, thank you so much for your support!

During the process, my son was asleep which I am very grateful for because I can crochet in peace. My two daughters went to my mother's house to play and my husband planted new kinds of flowers. We both had a great time and I even joked at him saying "See, not? I'm gardening too, but I belong to the making of the hanging pots." Then we both had a good laugh.
