The watch that started it all, the Timex Weekender!
This was the very first watch I purchased about 2 or so years ago when I was still toying with the idea on wearing a watch and the practicality of them. This opened up the door to my love for watches, and I've since purchased probably 5 or 6 more. After looking through a few recommendation posts on reddit, I figured I'd give this watch a look on Amazon. The price point for this is just right, coming in at around $30, though you can get it for about half that price or less depending on if it's on sale. I think this is a good entry point for someone looking to get into collecting watches, as it will allow you to get a feel if they're really for you or not without breaking the bank for a good quality EDC watch. The style on this thing is very simple, which I like. It's a 38MM watch, with a stainless steel case/frame, and a nylon NATO strap in OD green. The straps are easily swappable if you'd like to change it out for something different, though I personally think the strap it comes with is very comfortable.
It has a 30M water resistance, so you don't have to worry about the watch getting ruined if you leave it on while washing your hands or taking a shower. The indiglo backlight feature is pretty nice, and it does glow fairly bright compared to a few other watched I've handled with a similar feature. Funnily enough, although this watch is called the Weekender, it doesn't have a time/date feature which just seems a bit ironic to me. Nothing to deter me from recommending this to anyone wanting a watch though, it is a great piece for the price and should last a very long time.
The only downside to this watch for me is that it is loud. And, when I say loud, I mean LOUD. You can hear this thing tick from 7 or 8 feet away. Anytime I take it off and leave it on my dresser you can hear it so long as the TV isn't on. I don't really personally mind this so much, but it's definitely something to mention as this could easily bother some people who prefer quiet/no noise watches.
Anyways, I just felt like doing a short little review on this cool piece to see if anyone on here would be interested in more watch reviews/overviews. Thanks for checking out my post! If you liked it, feel free to follow me or resteem. If you've got any questions or comments, leave them below!
Man that is a sweet watch, nice minimal face has a good subtle look.
Followed for more. How much was it?
Thanks! And, I got really lucky and caught mine on sale on Amazon for like $17 shipped. Right now they're going for a few cents under $30. Given that it's summer though, they'll probably be doing a sale pretty soon I would guess.
For what I paid for it, there's no way to find anything else that can beat it. I think you'd still be hard pressed to find a better watch for around $30.
Awesome! Definitely going to do the old gift and get one myself. I have a friend who wore a style of watch similar to this, he would love a new one that's similar, thanks heaps for sharing mate.
Absolutely no problem! I'm more than happy to share my passions/collecting hobbies on here with everyone :) Let me know if you get one, tag me in a comment and tell me how you like it!

You might like the band I made for my watch! Also your watch is safe from EMP!
I do! That's a really cool band design for a watch. I would definitely rock something like that, or try to at least, haha.
It was super easy! Now I've done my hubby and me each wallets, 3 pairs of sandals, and two watchbands. Soon this hobby will have started to pay for itself. 😑 One of my loyal YouTube subs gave me a fortune in (his used) leatherworking tools. But then I haaad to go buy more!
That's awesome! It's also pretty awesome that it sounds like you've got a really cool fanbase on youtube, I'd just be happy to get a $1 donation from a fan during one of my livestreams on twitch/youtube, haha. I'd gladly take leatherworking tools as well though :)
What's your YouTube channel?
I like simple things, and its design is also good I really like it. I dont like watches with stainless steel bracelets because they seem very heavy.
The issue for the watch being LOUD is actually very good because it can tell you where the watch is itself :P also its an anti-theft trick hahaha
Yeah, I don't like watches with the stainless steel bands either. I had a Fossil watch that came like that and I only wore it once, and then gave it away to a friend who wanted a watch. I'll take a nylon or leather band that's adjustable any day before a stainless steel one again.
Hahaha. You're not wrong! I thought I misplaced it the one day, and ended up finding it in the wrong drawer thanks to how loud the ticking is. It's definitely useful in that regard :)
I used to wear a watch, been thinking about getting back into it.
If you want any recommendations or anything feel free to hit me up, man. I could suggest quite a few good quality watches for under $100.
