SLC25-W4 // Chickpea Salad.
This week learning challenge is really a challenge, challenging myself to take part in this learning is really what it's because I learn new things this week and taking it upon myself to practise it helps me absorbed what I have learnt.
I've never done chickpeas salad before I've not even heard of it but I'm grateful that the learning challenge has exposed me to this chickpea experience and I have known it gets to do it and will be preparing it going forward.
So I go to the market pick my ingredients and I started preparing it.
- chickpeas
- onion
- tomato
- cucumber
- red and green bell pepper
- can of tuna (optional)
- Parsley to taste
For the vinaigrette:
- 3 tbsp oil
- 2 tbsp vinegar
*1 tbsp honey - Pepper to taste
- Salt to taste
Preparation
Wash this thoroughly and dice it
I started with adding cucumber to the bowl
I added tomatoes to the plate
Added green bell pepper
I added red bell pepper to the plate
I added onions to the plate
I added my leaf
I added chickpea
I added my chopped boiled eggs
I used soy oil vinaigrette,
I added it in a clean bowl, added salt, pepper, honey and mixed it together then pour it to the salad and mixed then refrigerate it and served.

No not really it is my first time of doing it and I would sincerely say it didn't meet my expectations maybe because I'm not feeling too well so I'm having issues with my taste bud, so the taste didn't meet my expectations at all.
But my husband and baby ate it, so from their review it was nice because they finished it and they really like it.
The chickpeas have a flavour I like but the mixture of the fresh bell pepper irritate my taste buds so much, I think if I try again I will like it.
In general it was nice, it was a nice experience exploring it.

Chickpea; is a proteinous food which is rich in protein and it has high content of fibre which aids in digestion. It contains potassium and calcium which is good for the bone as well. It very good for weight management.
Cucumber: helps in keeping the body refreshed and hydrated it helps in detoxifying the body system as well.
Bell pepper: it has anti inflammatory properties which helps in fighting inflammation in the body, it also contains vitamins C which also helps in boasting immune system.
Onion: a very good antioxidant and anti inflammatory properties are present in it. This also helps in building immune system.

I don't really have more tips but the fresh veggies needs to be thouroughly wash to avoid eating some bacteria hidden on this fresh veggies as it it not cooked.
So use salt and vinegar to wash your veggies very well before use.
Drain the water using sieve when you finish washing the veggies, then cut it neatly to be appealing appetizing to the eyes.
Your ingredients should be fresh.
In general, this ingredient combined together, refreshes the body, rich in fiber and protein which helps in digestion and building a healthy and glow skin. It is low in calories which helps in managing weight and building immune system.
