The will of God is revealed in the vision of the harvest

Reading to reflect: John 4:35

"Do you not say, There are still four months to go before the harvest?" Behold, I say to you, Lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest. "

Jesus challenged his disciples through a powerful vision for that time and even today He wants to conceive that revelation at this time. He challenged them by a natural parallel of a spiritual truth. It is very important to note that Jesus always used nature to express and exemplify his vision.

Jesus said to his disciples: "Do not you decide that it is still four months before the harvest comes?" - here is a vision that He wants to conceive in them, in this sense Jesus was not talking about the natural harvest that was visualized in the fields. At that time, He was talking about a spiritual harvest.

Obviously He was more interested in the spiritual things of the people than the material ones. In fact more than once he referred to them in seeking first the kingdom of God and his justice. He also showed him that material things were background things, for example in John 4: 3-35 we read:

"He left Judea, and went again to Galilee.
And it was necessary for him to pass through Samaria.
He came, then, to a city of Samaria called Sychar, next to the inheritance that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
And Jacob's well was there. Then Jesus, tired of the road, sat like that at the well. It was about the sixth hour.
A woman from Samaria came to draw water; and Jesus said to him, Give me to drink ... "

Jesus shared the gospel with this woman and when his disciples returned with the food and said:
Meanwhile, the disciples begged him, saying: Rabbi, eat.
He told them: I have a food to eat, which you do not know.

Then the disciples said to one another: Has anyone brought him food?
Jesus said to them: My food is to do the will of the one who sent me, and to finish his work.

Again here Jesus is talking about the spiritual harvest and they did not understand, because the will of God is revealed in the vision of the harvest. Jesus revealed to his disciples what he needed them to interpret also in the spirit, so he says to them: "Lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest."

Again Jesus uses these fields as an example of the spiritual fields; he was exemplifying the multitude of men around the world who were ready to be reaped by men to spread the kingdom of God.

Jesus showed his disciples that the woman of Samaria was a living and real example of this great spiritual harvest. And it is this same vision that Jesus today wants to conceive in his spirit to the church and men of God.

God continues to call all those who have the vision to win souls for the Kingdom.
