Has the time come for Decentralized Social Platforms to make themselves known to the masses?

I've learned already that many people out there think that social media must be decentralized and they consider centralization of power as something bad. Perhaps they are right. Maybe they are wrong ...

Steemit seem to prove over and over again, that decentralization is building opportunities for so called "local warlords". Users with large resources, who can do a lot without ever being brought "to justice".

I seriously do not believe that humanity is ready for fully decentralized social media. without "big brother watching". Some centralized authority is a must - however that's just my own opinion.
