Own a piece of a comet! - Pica Glass impactites
Thanks to meteorites, you can own a piece of the Moon or Mars.
Did you know that thanks to impactites, you can own a piece of a comet?
Impactites are rocks formed when a meteor or asteroid slams into the Earth with great force, melting the target rock into a combination of earth rock and cosmic impactor. That is what happened thousands of years ago in what is now Chile's Atacama desert. The resulting rock is a bizarre slag-like material that resembles trinitite. Scientists are relatively certain the impacting body in this case was a comet. This material is called Pica Glass and I am one of the few dealers in the world offering it. I have specimens for every budget, from small sample-sized micromounts for study, to larger hand specimens for outreach or show-and-tell.
