Following a "precious" convoy...
Guys, it has been a hard day for me today...
I have followed the transportation of 140 Tons of best Japanese Steel Structure ever built to be used in order to built one of the Superconducting Magnets of the ITER Project.
As a picture is worth a thousand words below you will find a few:
- On the road to the Assembly Factory
- Arriving to the Assembly Factory:
This part is the biggest component of a Toroidal Field Coil. I think that the following pic will give you some idea of the scale side of the whole Coil exploded in the different main components :
ITER is an international nuclear fusion research and engineering megaproject, which will be the world's largest magnetic confinement plasma physics experiment. It is an experimental tokamak nuclear fusion reactor that is being built next to the Cadarache facility in Saint-Paul-lès-Durance, in Provence, southern France.
I will explain you more about ITER project in the near future. Now I have to rest a little... :-)
Hey, I think that I know an advisor to the ITER project.
Congrats for working on a revolutionary project :)
Maybe I know him as well 😂😂
Mirko Music? (Mušič)
At least I think that he is in a role of an adviser at this project. I can ask him ... In fact, I will ask him.
god, thats a huge Lego piece hehe
Picture was definitely worth 1000 words here...or 140 tons in this case since I never imagined how massive it would actually be!
Go, ITER, GO!
Thank you for sharing this story about the transport of that component.
