Knitting & Sewing Update - 23 August 2025

I was literally about two rows from finishing the toe section of this sock (still the first of a pair) when I decided to try it on and now I have to unravel it because it seems too short. Actually the sock also seems a bit tighter than the other socks I've knitted. I reckon that either the yarn is slightly thinner than 4-ply (?) or for some reason I’ve knitted slightly more tightly this time.
Although it is a bit hard and disheartening to unravel knitting, it‘s the best option to take as it ensures that the sock is made as best as possible and that it doesn’t feel too constricting when wearing it.
Unravelling such small stitches will certainly take some time, but I shall continue to knit and one day I will finish this project.
I will only unravel up to the beginning of the toe section because the current tightness of the foot section my change with wear.

So close and yet so far.
In the meantime I’ve also been distracted by a number of things including having to fix the tension in the overlocker. I’ve watched many You Tube videos on how to go about fixing it, but I have a slight suspicion the problem is not that straightforward as after many possible combinations, there’s no major difference to the loose tension of one of the loopers.
The photo below shows you part of the overlocker, Janome 9200D. The tension of the white thread seems to be too loose.

I’ve done many tests trying different combinations; the_best so far_ is shown below:

The red arrow above points to the problem. I can’t get that looper white thread to ‘tighten’ any further.
You can see a selection of some of my test pieces trying to sort it out. Hopefully I’ll soon find out what other possibilities there are as I really want to do some sewing !

Here's one of the videos I've watched
The video's clear and to the point, but sadly it's not really solved my tension woes. I need to keep trying or seek professional help.
Thank you for reading !
Really interesting !
