Akon Itam Hill Tour

Tourism is an act of sightseeing outside our usual environment either for leisure, business and other purposes. Tourist are people who tour or travel around different places for different reasons. I started mobile photography some years ago and one of my wish is to tour round the country just to create picture stories of the place and also have an album that consists of tour pictures.

Some weeks ago, I was opportune to visit one of best locality here in my town. It wasn't a private tour but a group hike on hills. After making the agreed payment, I was given a tag with my name on it for the great tour.

On that special day I visited Akon Itam in Itu local Government area. Let's know more about the locality.
Akon Itam is one the most visited villages in Itu local government area here in AkwaIbom state, being the southern part of Nigeria. The village Akon Itam is blessed with natural resources which consists of crude oil, limestone, clay, timber, raffia, wild plants, oil palm, fishing and more.
The community as a whole is so blessed with the best resources to create employment, revenues and other valuable royalties to the people.

The trip to the blessed land was actually the first and best one for me. I left home very early in the morning around 6am to meet up with my fellow hikers, my junior brother tagged along with me that very day. On reaching there I met with different hikers on nice hike costumes, I saw zeal, motive and drive on their faces.
We got the tag and move directly to the vehicle for proper head count. I sat by the side of the vehicle mainly to capture landscapes while moving pass them. My device was well charged with extra powerbank just to capture the moment in pictures and videos.

It wasn't actually a long trip though to the Akon Itam, we reached there after 30mins drive. We all moved out of the vehicle stayed in a round circle spot, the gathering was to introduce new faces and make known certain posts to the new faces. The hike master set out certain rules for the tour also making it known that not all wanderers are lost.
We moved in two just to be of help to another, the hike is controlled by a whistle just like football. The whistle directs the path, gives directions and also alert hikers incase of danger.

Akon Itam is really a blessed land filled with lot's of resources that can actually create job forever for the citizens there. There, we saw rubber tree, mini refinery and lot's of palm trees. It was really tough for some of our fellow hikers to climb through hills at some point but that doesn't stop you from moving.
Energetic hikers helped others to climb through also offered energy drink to boost up. I engaged alot with people and exchanged contacts for another session.

I really took good pictures of the moment and trip, I also shared the edited pictures to members of the group. It was really a nice time there, I also learnt alot while hiking.

We wander we assist

We hike to water areas, sand covered areas, Palm fruits and rubber areas. We finished the tour after 3 hours hike, it was really great and beneficial to everyone there.

There are certain reasons why people go on tour which include

📍For relaxation and leisure: most people want to leave their usual location to areas they can rest and spend quality time with their loved ones.
📍To explore new environment: people enjoy exploring new environment and taking vital pictures of those moments.
📍To visit memorial places: notable places are mostly visited to have a face to face shot and also explore the environment.
📍 Research: Tourism is really a great avenue to research and educate ourselves more on environment.

📍Job creation: it serves as a great avenue of providing jobs to people. Basically making jobs to the people of the locality.

📍 Development of infrastructures: Tourism also gives opportunity for infrastructure development making available good roads and other necessary infrastructures.
📍 Meeting with other people: Tourism creates relationships between people of different nations.
