Wow, an Ounce of Silver is Worth 400 STEEM!

Holy cow! The price of a ounce of silver is now over 400 STEEM!

As I write this post, coingecko.com says the price of STEEM is $0.1173. APMEX says that the price of silver is $47.09.

47.09 / 0.1173 = 401.45.

It makes me wish that I placed the effort I put into SteemIt into stacking silver.

Sadly, I don't know how to mine silver by writing web posts and voting on comments.

I have a small pile of silver quarters sitting on my desk. The site coinflation says that the melt value of a silver quarter is $8.47.

Lets see: $8.47 / 0.1173 is 72.21. Each quarter is worth 72 STEEM.

I thought about trying to sell the quarters on STEEM. The problem here is with shipping. I grabbed a priority mail envelop at the post office. It would cost $11.00 to ship the coins in the United States.

Ten quarters plus have a melt value of $84,70 plus $11.00 shipping comes to $95.70 or 815 STEEM.

International shipping is even worse.

It would be fun to sell this pile of quarters for 815 STEEM.

If someone wants to buy a pile of silver quarters for STEEM, let me know.

My best path for converting silver to STEEM would be to go to the local coin dealer. sell the coins, then to transfer the funds into my Coinbase account.

The next problem is figuring out how to get funds from Coinbase to STEEM.

Is there anyway to swap USD on Coinbase for STEEM?

My current thought is to go through HIVE Engine and then into STEEM. This path incurs several transaction fees.

I guess one of the reasons that the price of STEEM is low is because it is still too difficult to move money in and out of the platform.
