I'm going to tell you something, okay, between you and me, I'm in love, and no, I'm not talking about my partner, who's also worth it. Sorry, but about Street Fighter 6. Ever since I saw the first trailer for Capcom's new game, I knew that what was coming our way was completely special, a festival of personality and emotions that showed promise from the very beginning. Now that I've been able to play it, I'm here to tell you that it's even better than it seemed. And the truth is, I'm completely amazed by it, but of course, just knowing this, you'll wonder what the new Street Fighter has to be so special. Ivan, put on your gloves and get in the ring, I'll tell you.

I don't know if you do the same, but when I approach a new fighting game, the very first thing I think about is its characters. And if your fighters lack flavor, no matter how cool the rest of what you have to offer is, you're going down the wrong path. From the beginning, with Street Fighter 6, it seemed like Capcom had this completely mastered, but the feeling after having been able to try out the entire cast is even better than I expected. It's clear that the veterans of the series couldn't be missed, but just because they're iconic doesn't make them feel boring. Ryu hits like a real truck. Chun Lee is more mature and agile than ever. Dsim is that seeing him in motion is truly amazing, and Gil Gil hasn't changed his hairdresser. Now, seriously, in general, they feel familiar, but the changes they've received give them a second life that prevents them from looking like rehashed versions.

Even so, it's true that in this new installment, the main focus is on the rookies. And they tend to be a more contentious point within Fighting Games. You have to innovate, yes, but sometimes things go wrong. Ed Folk and Luke himself stumbled in Street Fighter 5, and Capcom didn't want to repeat this blunder. Fortunately, in this case, they come to contribute a lot, not just fill the gap. In personal terms, well, I have to admit that I absolutely adore Jamie, Drunken Fist, who finally needed this game, and Kimberly, a super carefree graffiti artist, but a little bit of a hooligan. Look at them. They're dynamic, fun, and above all, very, very fresh. Manón also fascinated me. From the first contact I had with her, although I later had to face a painful reality, I'm not very good at grapplers. Even so, conceptually, she's an amazing character. Lily JP and Marisa have earned an H among some of my favorite newcomers in fighting games in general.

But of course, no matter how good these characters are, if the combat sensations don't match them, what's the point of having such a solid roster? Fortunately, this question is unnecessary here. The matches are powerful, full of tension, full of dynamism. And above all, they are very fun. You just have to see all those explosions of light, color, and effects that flood the ring in each match. It's a joy to see it in motion, with a frenetic pace and a distinct personality. Even the menus, even the loading screens, convey charisma. Street Fighter 6 is powerful, energetic, but also relaxed and very relatable. It's as if the video game itself were a friend you're playing with. If Teken, for example, is more visceral and aggressive every day, Street Fighter 6 focuses on being engaging and fun, literally every second.
