Maybe this is really an opportunity for a Whaleshares-like re-structuring where the community is taken over and run by the witnesses instead...

Reading between the lines going back quite a LONG way, there were plenty of "suggestions hanging in the air" that everyone was waiting for Steemit, Inc. to do/release the next "thing" and meanwhile Steemit, Inc. would often make "aside comments" that the community devs/witnesses rarely submitted actual concrete code suggestions for change... just minor cosmetic ones. And yes, I understand it's not inspiring to create and propose some major interface change only to have it shot down. But you can't have it BOTH ways: Waiting for the "boss" to take a step, and also take the steps for change, yourself... pick a lane, and stay in it!
