Social Network - NikNak

Back in 2022, when TikTok was dominating the short-form video space, another app called NikNak briefly caught my attention. It was essentially a copy of TikTok—same concept, similar features. Users could follow one another, create nicknames, upload short videos, and leave comments, just as on TikTok.

I did sign up for an account, though honestly, I hardly used it. My main motivation was to have a backup platform, just in case TikTok ever started losing its edge. At the time, NikNak seemed like a solid alternative—even though it never quite gained traction. As always, my nickname was pliutkus.

Now that NikNak is gone, it’s just another footnote in the long list of TikTok imitators. But it still serves as a reminder of how quickly the social media landscape can shift, with so many platforms trying to catch the wave while it’s peaking. The last time I logged in was back in April 2023—feels like ages ago now.
