Social Network - VOCL
A long time ago, or precisely, in 2022, I got curious about alternative social media platforms and decided to explore a few by creating accounts. One of those platforms was Frank Social, a social network launched by Mike Lindell. When I created an account on this platform, it felt like using a hybrid of Facebook and Twitter. Users could choose unique usernames and profile links, just like on those mainstream platforms. This social network also allowed users to join or create groups, similar to Facebook. However, unlike Facebook, there were no options to create or like pages. At the same time, it supported familiar features, such wall posts, check-ins, photo and video uploads, private messaging, and customizable privacy settings. However, one notable difference was the lack of a “friend” feature—users could only follow others, much like Twitter or Instagram.
Despite its similarities to the big names, I didn’t find much reason to use it regularly. I originally signed up as a backup option, just in case Facebook or Twitter declined in popularity, and went the way of MySpace. In fact, I rarely logged in, and 2025 marked my first return in years. To my surprise, the platform had rebranded and is now called VOCL—a play on the word "vocal." Still, if anyone has an account on this social network, feel free to follow me. My username is, as usual, pliutkus.
