Solar light installation #site 2 adjustments

in Solar Steem24 days ago (edited)

If you have been following my blog, you may probably recall that in my last post, I mentioned making major adjustments to the poles supporting the solar streetlights at the second site, as per my client's instructions after seeing the effect of his previous suggestion of using 3-feet pole were the illumination was poor.

Well, it happened yesterday, I mean - I finished the job yesterday after working for two days to amend this.

The nature of the job was a little strenuous because I had to :

  • Remove the existing 3-foot poles from the pillars by chiseling them out.

  • Take the poles to a welder to extend them by 6 feet, bringing the total height to 9 feet, with 1 foot and 7 inches to be buried in the pillars.

  • Deepened the previously dug holes in the pillars to accommodate the new pole height.

  • Reinstalled the poles, burying about 1 foot and 7 inches of each pole inside the pillars.

  • Mix cement, sand, gravels and water to cast the base

  • Secured the bases with strong concrete to ensure stability.

And now the installation and casting of the base is done as you can see above.

After a day of casting, I installed all the solar lights back and every where was illuminated equally.

And now, here comes the result. The pole is now longer.

Spot the difference

Before :
The poles stood at 3 feet tall, with about 1 foot buried, leaving approximately 2 feet visible above ground(ground here refers to the fence top surface). And this was very short to be honest.

After:
The poles now stand at an impressive 9 feet tall, with about 1 foot 7 inches buried, leaving approximately 7 feet 5 inches visible above ground(ground here refers to the fence top surface), marking a significant increase in height. This would spread the light brightness at night.

I am done with site #2 entirely and my client was very happy and satisfied with my job. Infact I got a new job as a result of this. I think this next job will be my site #3 and #4. Stay tune for this update soon.

This is how well Steem solar & Electricals is making wave in my city. I am so grateful that my solar dream is gradually coming to reality.

I would like to use this opportunity to thank all my friends for their support and for making this dream a reality.

For educational purposes

To my readers and installers in the blog- are there some suggestions you would like to share with me for improvements ?

Also, I noticed that one thing was wrong during my installation process - starting from sites #1 and #2. Can you spot it and I will tell you the reason why? 😃

Great Job again, the only thing what buzzles me a bit (like @weisser-rabe) are your "creative" ideas to do some tasks, like that one on the higher pole as you showed on the picture, this my friend looks like my italian troop is at work again, those 20 guys had a lot of such creative ideas at work, many of them where very dangerous for their lifes, yeah and this one from you, man that doesn´t look very safe, I´m glad nothing bad happend to you by doing so 😲

😃 thank you. I am just trying to explore my field, making use of any available idea I have.

man that doesn´t look very safe,

Oh yeah, I think this touch one of the questions I asked at the end of my post.

I didn’t use any PPE. Well, I know that isn’t a good one at all, however, I only use what I have and also planning to get some PPE gradually. They are expensive here.

yes, exactely 😉

yeah and that´s what I had in mind when I wrote my remark, I fully understand that, but I guess your family will thank you if you do so the earlier the better. Normaly with better equipment you will show to potential clients that its worth to think about to contract your services, moreover this Investment could lead to asking for more good paid jobs, wich where before out of reach.

I hope your business will continue to grow to give you and your family a good outcome and a stable life 😎
