What a day! + ¡Vaya día! [Eng+Spa]
I would have liked my Saturday to go smoothly. I like a calm life, but it turns out the weekend we just started was more hectic than I could have anticipated.
Well, recurring power outages are part of my daily life in my current Venezuela. That's nothing new, and one gets used to poor service.
However, remembering that this wasn't the case a few decades ago makes me sigh at the comparison. Getting used to a poor quality of life in order to survive, as if lowering one's standard of living goes hand in hand with a slightly neurotic resilience.

Me habría gustado que mi día sábado transcurriera sin problemas. Me gusta la vida calmada, pero sucede que el fin de semana que hemos comenzado ha sido más agitado de lo que yo podía prever.
Bien, las fallas eléctricas recurrentes es parte de mi vida cotidiana en mi Venezuela actual. Eso no es algo novedoso, y ya uno se acostumbra a tener mala calidad de servicio.
Sin embargo, al recordar que esto no era así hace unas décadas, hace que la comparación me haga suspirar. Acostumbrarse a una mala calidad de vida para poder sobrevivir, como si rebajar el nivel de vida fuera de la mano de una resiliencia un poco neurótica.
Bien, las fallas eléctricas recurrentes es parte de mi vida cotidiana en mi Venezuela actual. Eso no es algo novedoso, y ya uno se acostumbra a tener mala calidad de servicio.
Sin embargo, al recordar que esto no era así hace unas décadas, hace que la comparación me haga suspirar. Acostumbrarse a una mala calidad de vida para poder sobrevivir, como si rebajar el nivel de vida fuera de la mano de una resiliencia un poco neurótica.

Anyway... the electricity stabilized a bit during the afternoon, which was good. And then it turns out a water pipe burst in the house, and we had to rush to find a way to stop the water from escaping before it undermined the ground too much and could endanger the integrity of the house's foundation...
My brother found the source of the leak and shut off the water supply. At least we can sleep peacefully now, and we'll have to fix that another day.
I'd love to have a quieter day, but it seems the world has other plans.
I sincerely hope your weekend is better than what I'm describing here.

En fin… la electricidad se estabilizó un poco durante la tarde, eso fue bueno. Y resulta luego que se reventó una tubería de agua en la casa y tocó correr para buscar como frenar el brote de agua antes de que se socavara mucho el terreno y pudiera ser peligroso para la integridad de las bases de la casa…
Mi hermano encontró la fuente de la falla, y cerro el paso de agua. Ya por lo menos podremos dormir tranquilos y tocará reparar eso en otro día.
Me encantaría tener un día más tranquilo, pero parece que el mundo tiene otros planes.
Te deseo, sinceramente, que tu fin de semana sea mejor de lo que yo narro por acá.
