I find it essential to have one really good healer in your deck. At the moment I am using a leveled up Oconcha with speed 2. In my opinion, a speed 2 or 3 healer is good to use, because you need one super powerful spped 0 card in your deck too, and then you need a way to get to 6 total speed so the healer being 2 or 3 helps with that.

can you fuse legendary cards, do you know?
The ones you draw from turning in gold, yes! The ones that are blockchain cards are already quad fused to highest level. This has been my experience, anyway. I haven't fused legendary cards since the final release though, but think its the same as it was, you can fuse them. Just takes forever to draw a matching card! :-)
