Arsène Wenger, the legendary French coach who coached Arsenal between 1996 and 2018, acknowledged on Sunday that in the past he rejected at least once the position of coach of Real Madrid. He has done it in Monaco, where he is to participate in the Annual Gala of the Laureus Awards and where this afternoon he has presented the Sport for Good Award to the Indian NGO Yuwa.

"For me, the coach's work has to have an impact on three different levels: first, in the career of the players he works with, secondly, in the team's style of play, and third, in the structure of the club he works for. for me that aspect is very important and then I felt that it was not the time to leave the team because we were still developing the structure," said the French coach, who has been without a team since he abandoned the discipline of Arsenal last year.

On the question of whether he would contemplate training Real Madrid in the future, Wenger was elusive but left the door open. "I can not answer because I do not know what's going to happen in the future. my job is to get the best out of the players and I hope I can continue to do so in the future, but for that I must first get the best out of myself and now I'm seeing which it's the best way to develop", he explained.

Juventus, favorite against Atlético

Wenger also spoke about the Champions League and specifically about the tie between Juventus and Atlético de Madrid. Despite his usual discretion, the French made it clear that for him the Italian team leaves as a favorite: "I think that seeing the two teams are Juventus is a favorite even though for Atlético it is a special year because the final will be played in his field. For me Juventus was the most convincing team of the first months of the season"
