Fifa 17 Review
It's been a while since I've written anything longer than a few sentences here and there so this might not sound that great. Fifa 17 was a really solid soccer game that I used to play often. The game got so many things right. The game had a very enjoyable soundtrack, it didn't take you through 12 minutes of load screens the way that Madden sometimes will, and it was a fun sports game if you only had 20-30 minutes to play. The best thing about FIFA 17 really is that it felt like an authentic soccer experience. It felt like you were at the soccer stadium and the announcers were some of the best that have ever been in a sports video game.
I have grown up being a part of the video game generation so it might not be relatable to everyone, but these kind of games were a very good distraction from the stress of school etc. I would say a lot about the story mode in FIFA 17, but if you played it for that reason then you completely missed the point of this game. The game loads quickly, you can choose your teams in just a few minutes, and then you can put on your cleats and head onto the pitch. The newer FIFA games don't have the same appeal at all. FIFA 17 had the controller vibrate when you hit the post, the crowd got more excited as you entered the penalty box, and you could hear the announcers reacting to all the decisions you made on the field.
All of the new FIFA games just don't create as authentic of an experience. The new games have updated uniforms and jerseys that move more in the wind and such but that isn't what this game was supposed to be about. FIFA 17 was about creating a fun fast-paced soccer game that only took 20 minutes max to play and could distract you while you heat up a frozen pizza or something. The new FIFA games force you to go through annoying load screens which take away from the experience of what the game was supposed to be about.
FIFA 17 got a lot of things right. The game was fun, had a great soundtrack, made you feel like you were at the soccer stadium, and it takes a lot of skill to be great at it. If you play on the hardest difficulty against the computer and you never played before it is difficult to even steal the ball for and hold possession even half of the time.
