RE: Rutgers Offer - Maverick McIvor, QB '19
To say Rutgers could use some help at the QB position could be the understatement of the year - the Scarlet Knights finished just 124th (out of 129 D-1 teams) in passing a season ago with a paltry 115.6 yards per game. That is not going to cut-it in any conference, let alone a power conference like the Big 10. Furthermore, Rutgers only managed to throw 7 TD passes the entire season! To put that in perspective - that was 3 TDs less than Georgia Tech, who ran the ball a mind-boggling 84% of the time a season ago. The bottom line is a kid with McIvor's ability, despite being ranked only 995 is exactly what Rutgers' needs. He's not a 5-star recruit or anything, but played at San Angelo in Texas, and Texas has been a hotbed for high school football talent for decades now - especially quarterbacks. Don't let his ranking fool anybody, if Rutgers' nabs him, its a big signing at least for their program - as it would mark a much-needed step in the right direction...
