The Rise of Jar Jar Edgar: Stereotypes, Protests, and Star Wars Comparisons
One of the funniest and more recent stereotypes about Latinos—especially those living in California—is the "Edgar" and the infamous "Edgar haircut." While it’s essentially just a joke about a hairstyle (and admittedly a bit childish), I can’t help but find it hilarious.
From the videos I’ve seen about protests or just general content coming out of California, I can pretty much assume there’s an Edgar somewhere nearby.
Now, here’s where things get a little out of left field. I was reading some comments on TikTok comparing protests in the U.S. to Star Wars—specifically, the Jedi versus the Empire. Some commenters were even claiming to be like Luke Skywalker. That made me laugh, because based on their behavior, they reminded me more of Jar Jar Binks than Luke.
It’s a strange comparison, I know, but it cracked me up. That mental image stuck with me—so much so that I used AI to generate a "Jar Jar Edgar."
