Monument to Gerardo Barrios in San Salvador, El Salvador

in #statue19 days ago

I have always been struck by how statues tend to be visited by pigeons. It is very common to see them perched on the heads of statues in any park. It seems as if the statues were made for them, so that they can have a better view of everything around them from there.
A curious fact about equestrian statues is related to the number of legs the horse stands on. If the horse is standing on all four legs, it is said that the historical figure died of natural causes. If both front legs are raised, then the person died in combat, but if only one front leg is raised, then it is said that the person died from combat wounds. However, this is not entirely accurate.
In these images, we see the Monument to Gerardo Barrios in San Salvador, El Salvador.
