Cockington Green Gardens ACT, Australia

in #steem-atlas4 months ago (edited)
Last year we visited Cockington Green Garden during Easter. We had an idea what to see there but what we saw was simply amazing.

As usual, we visited with our local friends from the Garran community as part of our volunteering program. We had booked our tickets in advance and reached there at 9.30 sharp.

The garden features miniature replicas of buildings and landmarks from the different states of Australia.

Peru's Machu Picchu is all set within landscaped gardens and also includes a miniature steam train ride.
New Zealand: Treaty House

Norway: Borgund Stave Church
Peru: Machu Picchu
Philippines: Torogan Maranao
Dapotap from Republic of Korea

And many more as shown below.

All these models are crafted by a team of experts and sponsored by concerned embassies or agencies/organizations from the represented countries.

There is a set scale of reconstruction of these buildings as these models are mostly built to a 1:18 scale.

However, a few like Machu Picchu, are at a 1:100 scale.

There are attractions and other Features for children:

Normally it takes two hours to walk through the garden but when you have children around it takes longer. Besides a few children wanted to have refreshments so we visited the local restaurants and spent some time there.

The children had a train ride.

They were given a souvenir guide and a notebook each at the entry and received a small gift based on how they noted what they saw and also offered discount vouchers at the cafe and souvenir shop.

Handmade creations

The Garden has a Cafe which offers quick refreshments.
