Te ahu a turanga shared walkway 🚵🚶‍➡️

in #steem-atlasyesterday (edited)

This morning i went and rode the new shared walkway between Ashhurst & Woodville, this new road replaces the old Manawatu gorge road.

When they built the road the also built a shared cycle/pedestrian walkway, the walkway is free to go on and there are carparks & toilets on the Ashhurst side.

Here is a picture of the Manawatu gorge from the lookout on the new flash bridge.

Information map on the left and the right picture shows the old road which was always plagued by rock fall's and slips.

There is more information about the build at the lookout at the start of the track, from here it is 5 kilometers up a steep incline then 5 kilometers straight down the other side.

Let me you tell the climb was so good i had to get off and walk twice 🥵

Today is a cloudy day here but you still get some great views, on a clear day i imagine you would be able to see the South island from this height.

You would also see 2 or 3 mountains covered in snow 🥶, as you climb you see both wind farms gracefully spinning around.

This is a great place for walking and cycling well away from traffic, there are lots of spots to stop and sit down if you need too.

It does flatten out for a bit at the top and thankfully there was more rest spots to stop and admire the view.

A nice photo of the gorge. A good idea to have a shared path. I am glad there are many rest, and lookouts points for people to enjoy the view, which I am sure, from the photos, must be breathtaking.

Have a great Sunday!

Yes thank goodness for rest areas, need to get up there on a nice clear sunny day for better pictures.

Mr. @kiwiscanfly.
I'm once again amazed by the natural beauty and how well-built the infrastructure is, making it easy for people to see the beauty there.

If a MotoGP circuit were built there, it would be quite interesting to see; many people would certainly come there. 😇

Thanks for that, the road to drive on very good as well.

I am glad they did a cycle/pedestrian track as well.

By the way, do you know Bali? Many Australians go there, and I think some New Zealanders go there too.

Yep i know about Bali and want to go there one day soon for a holiday.

I was closer a couple of week's ago when i was in Perth.

Glad you learned about the island. I hope you'll visit it someday. Not just Bali, but Sabang Island too.

Thank you for your feedback. Have a nice day.
