A village where hanoks are preserved in Pil-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul. It is a village created by the Namsangol Foundation Project, and acquired the site of the Capital Defense Command, relocated and restored five hanoks designated as Seoul Metropolitan Government's folk materials, and decorated them as traditional gardens. It was opened on April 18, 1998.
Hanok was selected as a pure traditional house without transformation. Among them, the house of Yoon family of Queen SoonjeongHyo is located in Okin-dong, Jongno-gu, but it was too old to move and was restored after the architectural style. The house of Yoon Taek-young in HaepungBuwon-gun(Seoul Folklore Material 24) relocated from Jegi-dong, Dongdaemun-gu, and the house of the Min family in Gwanhun-dong(Seoul Folk Material 18) was restored from Gwanhun-dong, Jongno-gu, and the house of Ohwijang Kim Chun-young(Seoul Folk Material 8) was restored from Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu. Lee Seung-up's house(20 Seoul Folklore Materials), which was a chief carpenter of built of Gyeongbokgung Palace, was built in 1860 by Lee Seung-up, and was restored to its previous home in Samgak-dong, Jung-gu. Furniture suitable for the size of the house and the status of the person who lived in it is arranged so that you can see the lifestyle of the time from the old college house to the common people's house in Seoul, and the traditional craft exhibition hall displays the works of functional holders designated as intangible heritage and tourism commemorative products.
The Namsangol Traditional Garden in the village planted traditional tree species that are natural vegetation by utilizing the mountains of Namsan Mountain, created a valley to allow water to flow naturally, and restored pavilions and ponds to decorate them as traditional gardens. Deep inside the village is the Time Capsule Square, which houses 600 capsules containing representative of today's civic life and the appearance of Seoul Metropolitan Government, 15m underground.
In Hanok Village, Korean plays, plays, and dances conducted by the program are performed and used as places to experience and learn about old culture.
