The Diary Game [10/06/2025] // School Hunting for My Kids

in Steem Cameroonlast month
Steem greetings, guys, and welcome to my blog as I share my lifestyle content with you all. It was a workday for me, but I dedicated the day to securing admission for my kids for the 2025/2026 school year. Since relocating, one of the major issues has been sourcing a good school for my kids. From the information I got around, this is the best time to source out a good school and secure admission.

It was a sunny day and the temperature was high, but I had to make the walking around to check the schools. I had to first prepare breakfast for the kids and ensure they ate well before I left the house. My husband's kid brother came around, and I had to use him as my driver for the day. We had to first check online for the schools around my neighbourhood. We also asked around for recommendations.

Luckily enough, it was a day when 6th-grade kids were writing their first school-leaving certificate examination to be admitted to the secondary school. Along the way, we met a good number of them and we asked for information about their schools. The information acquired helped us to easily locate the schools.

We went to about 7 schools, and in almost all the schools, we could not meet any of the school administrators to acquire the school brochure. We also noticed a lot of reconstruction going on in most of the schools. In most of the standard schools, security would not permit me to take pictures.

This activity was done throughout the afternoon period till evening, and I was able to communicate on the phone with some of the proprietors and head teachers. I discussed the school fees, transportation, feeding, and school uniforms and most importantly, the hygienic condition of the environment. The only school I was allowed to take pictures around was of low standard. It was owned by a francophone, and we know the francophone system of education is never organised like the Anglophone system of education.

This was the last school we went to for the day.

It was a tiring day after all the movements around, and I was happy we finally concluded with one of the schools. I had to return home to prepare their birth certificates, vaccination cards, and report cards to be submitted to the school administrators to include their names in the system. I also have to pay the first instalment of their fees by next month.

Returning home after a stressful day.

When I returned home, I was exhausted but still had to prepare dinner for the kids. I had to fry some ripe plantains with vegetable sauce to eat as dinner. After eating, I logged into steemit and curated some posts. I discussed with my father-in-law and my husband. We both concluded on the school issue and finalised the school matter. At least I can now focus on other things as the major issue has been sorted out.

I can confidently say it was indeed a fulfilled day for me because I achieved my goals for the day, and I wish every other day goes smoothly with no major hindrance. But it is what it is, we can never determine what will happen in future. Until my next diary, guys, it is goodnight from my end.
