The Diary Game [31/08/2025] // Choir Surprised Birthday Celebration of My Sister-In-Law.

Steem greetings, guys from the motherland of Cameroon, and welcome to my blog for another session of my lifestyle content. It was Sunday, and a day of worship for us Christians, but due to heavy rains and my husband not being around to drop us off at church, I had to stay back at home and follow the church service online. It is challenging for me to take the kids to church using public transport, especially on rainy days.

The church service lasted for 2 hours, and that was it for the Sunday, and time to vibe around town and boom, my sister-in-law called to say that her church choir was coming for a visitation and also to check on the baby because since she put to birth, it is a culture for them to come for what we locally called "born house". It’s a term loaded with nostalgia, belonging, and cultural pride. I had to dress up the kids, and we left to experience the choir visitation.

We arrived on time, just as the choir members had, and surprisingly surprised my sister-in-law with a birthday cake and sang birthday rhymes. This day was not her birthday, but her birthday just passed on the 29th of August, and she did not celebrate it. One good thing about surprises is that they break routine and spark genuine emotion, whether it’s joy, wonder, or excitement. They remind us that life can still be unpredictable in the best way.

As she took in the surprise birthday cake, tears of joy welled up and spilt over. She could not believe the cake was for her birthday and thought it was a prank, and they had to convince her to take the cake and see her name on the cake. She took the cake and was excited, and immediately entered her dancing mode.

The choir requested she remove her choir uniform and dress up because it was her day, and they had decided to use the opportunity of the born house to also celebrate her birthday. She went indoors and changed, and she was ushered in with beautiful dance steps. She had to take pictures with the choir with the cake.

It was a joyful moment we spent with her, and I had to return home with the kids to watch the EPL game between Arsenal versus Liverpool. To me, it was a decisive match for Arsenal, though many still think that it is too early to predict who will win the league this season. Given Arsenal's position in the past 2 years, I was expecting a win because if they actually intended to triumph this season, they should not give chances of losing matches.

It was a tough game for both teams, and at one point, I felt like it was the final already. Despite the tactics and efforts to win the game, Arsenal lost with disappointment on their faces. I could imagine my husband's reaction when they lost again. After watching the game, I watched some movies and later retired to bed and called it a day.
