Candlelight: A moment of connection and reflection
Greeting Steemit Family
Candlelight events are among the lifetime experiences we often overlook, yet they hold deep emotional meaning during our time on this planet. At first, I did not consider them essential until I had to attend one yesterday. These events have a unique way of emotionally walking into your mind and leaving a lasting impression.
Though candlelight ceremonies are just an episode of the whole funeral program, they stand out as moments that deeply connect us to the departed. We have become used to the typical process. When someone dies, the funeral program is shared, and we simply make up our minds. Everyone shows up for the wake, if there is one, and finally for the burial. The conversations usually stay among close friends, and occasionally extend to family members.
But for me, the candlelight should never be ignored in a funeral program. It offers a special chance for everyone, not just close relatives, to honor the deceased. It's something we often see in Western culture, and when we do have such events here. It is usually because the deceased was in the entertainment industry. But I understand why. Candlelight gatherings have always been a way for the public to show moral support to the grieving family.
Most candlelight events are open to the public. Some might be private, but honestly, I don’t see the need for that. Since these events are meant to bring together groups, friends, colleagues, and family. Making a candlelight event a closed-door event sometimes just complicates things unnecessarily.
For those who might not fully understand what a candlelight event is. It is a gathering organized to honor the memory of a deceased person. The ceremony includes lighting candles, observing moments of silence, paying tribute, and sometimes showing a slideshow of pictures and videos of the person. It’s a deeply emotional experience, especially if you have never attended one before.
One thing that stood out to me is how peaceful the atmosphere is. Every moment is quiet. You may see tears flowing silently, but you won’t hear loud weeping. You often find yourself in deep reflection, solemn moments where you speak quietly within yourself the whole time.
As I mentioned, candlelight events are among the most peaceful and dignified ceremonies you might ever witness. I think that’s because of the profound respect we give to the deceased. These moments make you pause and reflect on your own life. After watching video clips of this light-hearted young girl with her friends and family. Seeing all the smiles and realizing that today she is no more. You ask yourself, What are we fighting for?
We attend a lot of funerals and are constantly met with sad faces. We always wish the person were still alive. That simple question, why did I want this person to live longer? It can shift the way you see each day. Treat today like there is no tomorrow. That’s a lesson I have learned from watching the videos at TAH Balinda’s candlelight. May your gentle soul rest in peace. Death will continue to be a reminder to the living.
All the happy moments she recorded with her friends and family are now just memories. It feels fresh and unforgettable now, but in time, it will become just another memory, like so many others. That’s why we must value the people around us every single day. These are the people you are creating memories with, and one day, you might not see them again.
May the soul of the departed continue to rest in peace.
Cheers
