Greetings Steemit friends,

It is never easy for parents who already have kids in school during this time of year. Preparation is not just about gathering their school materials, but also about helping them develop the right mindset for learning.

It’s been a long three months of holidays, and staying home has taken its toll on them. So, now is the time to start preparing them mentally for school in the days ahead. This means helping them kick out lazy habits like sleeping late and waking up late, and cultivating smarter routines at home before school starts.

I woke up early, and my kids were already up. I assigned my elder child a few tasks while I stepped out. I had noticed the car needed servicing, and it was not something I could leave for another day. So, I decided to take the kids along to the garage and also get some of their school supplies.

We drove out and ended up spending more than four hours on the road, moving from one place to another. My toddler eventually fell asleep in the car, it was tiring for him to sit that long. By midday, we were done, and I got them some snacks as we headed back home.

Once home, I decided to take my time to wash the car. Because of the rain and cold weather, it had collected a lot of mud. Plus, coming from the garage, it was stained with oil that needed to be cleaned. I spent the whole afternoon working on it, finishing just before the World Cup qualifying match between England and Andorra.

By the time the match was about to start, dinner was ready. I was extremely hungry since I had not eaten anything all day. I had left the house without breakfast, thinking I would be back quickly, but I ended up spending the entire morning and part of the afternoon out.

I ate my dinner while watching the match. Honestly, it reminded me of the story of David and Goliath in the Bible. Christians will understand what I mean. It was basically a big team playing against a very small one, at least according to FIFA rankings. Even from the style of play, you could see the difference.

Andorra played with a low block, waiting to take advantage of counterattacks, while England played with a high line, pushing to penetrate their defense. Matches like this usually bore me, since one team ends up keeping all the possession.

As expected, England scored their first goal through an own goal. One of the risks of playing a low block against a possession-heavy team. The game ended with England winning 2–0, with Declan Rice scoring the second goal with a header from a James cross.

After the game, I decided to play Warzone 2010 on my laptop. I spent about two hours on it, then had a chat with my family before taking my bath and heading to bed.

Cheers
