THINGS SCHOOL NEVER TAUGHT ME

School gave me a lot of information. I learned how to calculate numbers, memorize facts, and turn in assignments on time. But when I stepped beyond those classroom doors and faced the real world, I quickly figured out that the most valuable lessons weren’t covered in any textbook.

For starters, school didn't teach me how to deal with heartbreak. It never prepared me for those moments when friends let me down, for the pain of putting my everything into something that didn’t work out, or for watching my hopes fade away quietly. Healing from those kinds of feelings? That was something I had to figure out on my own.

Another thing I learned is that confidence isn’t always the loudest voice in the room. I didn’t have to raise my hand all the time to be heard. School didn’t guide me on how to find my own voice or use it to share stories that matter. It never showed me the power of words and presence to connect with others.

No one taught me about the weight of self-doubt or the strength that comes from believing in myself. I found out that being there for myself is way more important than getting a good grade.

Emotional management? Setting up healthy boundaries? Navigating adult friendships? Those were all lessons I had to learn on my own. School didn’t show me how to cope with failure or how to see it as just a stop along the way, not the end of the journey.

Life outside of school taught me so much more. I learned to value myself, I learnt to be there for myself. I learned that healing is just a part of growing up, and that being soft doesn’t equal weakness. My creativity is a real gift, and I’ve discovered how to embrace it.

I’m still on this learning path. Whether I’m working on my bead business, telling stories, or motivating others, it reminds me that what really matters isn’t what I read in books; it’s what I live through.

And you know what? That’s perfectly fine. I'm learning what’s truly important, step by step.
