Attending My Village Convention
Good morning @everyone and welcome to my blog. Today I'll be sharing a very interesting piece about my village convention, please stay calm and read through it from your favorite author @uyaiuyo
I know you may be wondering by now. What is Village Convention? Smiles. My village convention is simply our Masquerade convention. Smiles. So I captured every moment from the beginning of when they left till they returned via videos and I'll be sharing screenshots of the beautiful moments I captured.
Culture is the way if life of the people hence: the saying; Our Culture Our Heritage.
In my village, there's what we call "Ndad Ekpo" and it's being done every big year. So as it has been done this year, next year will pass before it's being done again. It's our culture and tradition and as an African man, you don't cheat your culture.
In the past (olden days), women were not allowed outside like the way I am outside when ever there's "Ndad Ekpo" or when ever there is 'Ekpo Masquerade ' talk more of snapping nor videoing and of course, we were not that civilized that time, else you'll put yourself in trouble and end up paying so much both in gift items and lots more to appease the gods of the land and it was simply known as "iko Ekpo"
The reverse is the case now because of civilization. Women now get to see masquerades, snap and even video them. Everyone now sees masquerades as a culture and different from how they used to see them in the olden days. People are no longer scared of it, people now dance with masquerades and even dash them some money. E shock me o..... Smiles.
So, on this day I was fully prepared to attend the convention and I made sure I left early so I can capture everything from the beginning. So this was me and the kids at a particular junction by Eminence Furniture Enterprise almost getting to my village where I took some beautiful photos with some furnitures.
I arrived my village successfully, spend some time with my family members and boom, time came for them to leave so they can bring in the masquerades (Ndad Ekpo Proper).
They started coming out singing and chanting some masquerades songs like that. And when they got to a particular junction called "Iso Itit" they stopped, played their songs, do all sort of chanting and incantation and poured libation for 'Mkpisong' and 'Nduppo' before they moved with the speed of light to 'Akai Ekpo'
Hours later, the returned with different kinds of masquerades ( Eka Ekpo, Ete Ekpo, Mbad Ekpo, Aye Ntong Inwang Ekpo, Inuen Ekpo and lots more).
Everywhere was crowded from the main road to inside the street. People were singing and dancing. Even the masquerades were dancing. Inuen Ekpo are the cutest ones and they dance so much like the cultural dancers despite their heights.
Other kinds of masquerades were not left behind. They where all dancing and displaying their skills.
People were dancing with masquerades and masquerades were dancing with people as well. Some of the masquerades were busy pursuing some young girls and young boys with marathon race.... Lols
Young and old were all having fun. Some young guys had to dress like our young girls just to grace the day... Lol
This is the end of my village convention and I hope you had a great time reading through it.
