Portrait of a dark-skinned lady using acrylic colour

Greetings, friends, and how are you today? I believe you are all fine as I am. Today I have painted the portrait of a dark-skinned lady using Acrylic colour, and below is the step-by-step presentation for anyone who may want to learn or replicate the same.

Materials for the painting

• Strongboard
• Waste carton
• Adhesive
• Pencil
• Eraser
• Acrylic colours
• Brush
• Water
• Maskin tape
• Paper cutter
• Ruler
• Thread

Step 1
I constructed the frame for the painting. The frame measures 28cm by 34cm. I cut the carton and then the strongboard using the measurements 28cm by 34cm. After the cutting, I glue the two together using adhesive. What followed next was that I gummed masking tape around the edge of the frame to seal the rough edges. Finally, I glued a thread to the back of the frame for hanging.

Step 2
I used my 2B pencil to draw the headtie

Step 2
I drew the face of the lady which I began from the forehead down to the cheek, mouth and the lower jaw. I then drew the nose, one of the eyes and lastly the mouth.

Step 3
Here, I drew the neck, the chest and part of the breast of the lady. I also drew her back, her hand and parted the two breasts. Finally, I drew the earring.

Step 4
I painted the background of the drawing using a mixture of red and yellow colours(deep orange).

Step 5
I painted the headtie using a light and dark blue colour. I got the light blue colour by mixing blue and white colours while a mixture of blue and black gave me the dark blue colour.

Step 6

• I designed the headtie by adding a touch of white and dark blue colours.

Step 7
Here, I mixed red, yellow and white acrylic colours to get the skin tone. I then apply it to the body of the lady using a brush.

Step 8
I added makeup to the face, and I also painted the eyelashes and eyebrow using black acrylic colour. I painted the lips using black and white acrylic colours. Lastly, I darken the skin down to the neck.

Step 9
I darken the remaining part of the body showing one of the arms and part of her breast.

Step 10
I did a finishing touch on the painting. I first painted the earring using a white acrylic colour and then gave a touch on the arm, the breast and the neck. Finally, I wrote my username on the frame
