Hello dearly beloved @ashkhan and Steem mates! I am happy to share the story behind this lovely picture. Whenever I scroll through my gallery and see my sister's wedding picture, I'm always drawn back to that wonderful day, a day my sister said 'I do' to the love of her life.

The traditional marriage and wedding ceremony were slated for Thursday and Saturday, respectively, of the same week. Being my only sister, financial constraints and distance were not an excuse or barrier to missing the ceremony. My partner, daughter and I had to travel down to the village.

Trust me, our arrival was greeted with joyous singing, dancing and lots of entertainment. It almost felt like there were going to be two marriage ceremonies. My aunts and uncles and my siblings, especially my sister, were happy to see us arrive safely.

The preparation was already on before my arrival. I assisted in the little way I could and enjoyed all the goodies and my mother's delicacies, including my favourite corn pudding and 'ujuju' soup.

Among all the preparations, I personally made her wedding cake. It was a thing of joy to have made my only sister's wedding cake. She had already told me when I was learning how to bake that I will be the one to make her wedding cake. To the glory of God, I was able to fulfil her wish.

The traditional marriage ceremony was concise and was indoors. Some of my cousins also graced the occasion. The solemnisation of the holy matrimony service was held in church. I wasn't able to witness the service, as I was busy assisting in the cooking and arranging entertainment for the guests. It was an extremely busy day for me. I was able to meet up with the couple taking pictures. I had to join my sister and my favourite aunt to take the photo I used for this post.

The reception ceremony was top-notch. Food and drinks were shared with the guests. I anchored the toast and the cutting of the cake by the bride and the groom. It was a lovely day for my sister and my entire family. It was a thing of joy to have graced my sister's marriage ceremony. My family and I went home with lots of foodstuffs and other goodies.

Every time I see this picture and others like this, the memories of the entire events of that week come back to me in full.

I would love @okere-blessing, @bossj25 and @mercybliss to share their picture of the day in this contest.
