"Prove yourself as the best artist for the week".
Greetings to the entire house and I welcome you all to my blog, today i will be taking part in this contest titled "prove yourself as the best artist this week " organized by @dequeen by sharing my creativity with you all. Art, to me, is not just a hobby but a powerful form of expression. Every line, every shade, and every detail is a voice that speaks without words. For this week’s “Prove Yourself as the Best Artist” contest, I decided to showcase my pencil drawing of a young man in casual wear, standing confidently with his hands in his pockets and his eyes looking upward. Here are the steps i took in creating this drawing.
Drawing materials
• A4 paper
• 2B pencil
• HB pencil
• eraser
• sharpener
step 1
Using very light strokes, I mapped out the proportions of the body, i began by drawing the head with a cap on top.
step 2
Next i drew his hands which is inside his pocket and I also drew the trousers and sneakers he was wearing.
step 3
With the framework in place, I began outlining the clothing. I drew the cap tilted slightly to the side, then shaped the t-shirt, making sure to capture the casual fit with small folds around the shoulders and body.
step 4
Next i shaded my drawing, Shading gave life to the sketch, transforming it from flat lines into a three-dimensional figure. I used layering and cross-hatching to create different tones. The cap’s brim cast a shadow across his face, while darker shades were applied around the folds of the jeans.
step 5
To complete the drawing, I added shadows beneath the character’s feet. This grounded him to the surface, preventing the illusion of floating. I also added details to the drawing.
step 6
After completing everything, my drawing was now finally complete and below is my final result
This drawing was not just a test of skill but also of patience and creativity. From the first outline to the last detail, each step brought me closer to capturing the essence of the young man in casual wear.Through this pencil sketch, I aimed to prove that art is not only about lines but about telling stories silently. With this, I proudly submit my entry for this week’s contest “Prove Yourself as the Best Artist”. Thanks for your time and I hope you like my drawing.
